Margaret Sanger became one of the most vocal advocates for birth control at a time when the mere mention of such things was considered not only taboo but also felony. Jean H. Baker’s nuanced account of Sanger’s life in Margaret Sanger:  A Life of Passion emphasizes the passion of Sanger’s convictions and is a timely read as American reproductive rights continue to make headlines this election season.
