Dr Dan Plesch will discuss his controversial book, America, Hitler and the UN. In a radical revision of the history of the Second World War he argues that the Declaration by United Nations issued by the ‘Big Four’ allied powers and 22 other countries on 1 January 1942, together with the ideas and institutions of these United Nations at war, made a great contribution to the victory and provide lessons of the importance of the modern UN that we ignore at our peril. Dr Plesch will show contemporary newsreel to illustrate his argument.
