The U.S. Presidential Debate: Past & Present

This evening (at 01:00 GMT), Florida will play host to the final 2012 election debate between President Barack Obama and Governor Mitt Romney. With just two weeks to go before the November 6th election, the art of the debate has become a hot talking point among both American voters and curious spectators worldwide.

If you’re planning to watch, you may want to explore the history of a forum that has taken many shapes since 1858.

The non-partisan Commission on Presidential Debates has a good website (link here) where you can explore and learn. You can even read debate transcripts from as far back as the Kennedy vs. Nixon race in 1960! In addition, there are links to video archives of debates long past and most recent.
