Remembering a Hunstanton Hero

Today we salute Reis Leming, a hero who sadly has passed away just short of his anticipated return to East Anglia.

Please follow this ITV News link to read about the US airman with the Air Force’s 67th Air Rescue Squadron who courageously saved 27 civilian lives during the disastrous 1953 flooding at Hunstanton.

Reis, who was decorated with the George Medal for bravery for his service, was due to return this week for his squadron’s 60th anniversary celebrations. Instead, the festivities will go on, capped by the unveiling of a footpath now called Reis Leming Way.
